Speaker Biography
Tang Haisong *Serial entrepreneur *Co-founder of Indian private equity fund Iron Pillar *Partner of Israeli technology investment fund Sprill Hill *Part-time teacher at Fudan University - military, technology, and finance *Global innovation director of Kering Group
Tang Haisong graduated from the Physics Department of Fudan University with a major in laser and received a master’s degree from Harvard Business School. He is a serial entrepreneur who has founded more than a dozen companies. In 2016, he participated in the establishment of the $200 million Iron Pillar Fund, which focuses on mid-to-late-stage investments in India. In 2015, he co-founded Tech Beyond, which focuses on technology transactions between Chinese and overseas companies.
He has worked for McKinsey & Company’s Hong Kong and London offices and was the first management consultant at McKinsey to have only a Chinese diploma. In 1999, he founded the “Yitang” Internet company for Chinese teenagers. In 2007, he joined Rand Merchant Bank in South Africa to be responsible for equity investment business in China. In 2009, he joined Gaozhiming to establish an open R&D business in cooperation with Chinese universities. From 2013 to 2015, he was responsible for the global technology bank, helping to graft innovative services between global small and medium-sized enterprises and multinational corporations.
Since 2013, he has been teaching a popular course called “Military, Technology, and Finance” at the School of Management of Fudan University, focusing on predicting the future development of industries.
Tang Haisong is an independent director of Zanho Group (with an annual sales of 3.5 billion RMB), the largest distributor of Kingston in China, and a special consultant for Ermgassen, a well-known European M&A bank, in the China region. In 2016, he was hired as a consultant for StoreDot, an Israeli fast-charging company, and is also an independent director of Total Sport Asia, the largest sports marketing and brokerage company in Asia.
In 2013, Tang Haisong was selected as an Aspen Fellow. He is also an active member of the China-US Youth Leaders Forum, the China-France Youth Leaders Association, the China-Spain Leaders Organization, and the China-Israel Innovation Organization.
